Case Study: Maidstone Borough Council

The Survey Centre worked closely with Maistone's HR team, and the nominated 'Cabinet Member', to design and manage a comprehensive Employee Survey programme.

The programme included internal promotion of the survey using a consistent design theme and presentations to managers in order to increase 'buy-in' to the process.

The survey itself explored a wide range of issues including:

  • job satisfaction
  • management styles
  • team working
  • communication
  • training & development
The survey was tailored to the needs of the Council but included benchmark questions allowing results to be compared to those of other organisations.

A mixture of online and paper-based questionnaires were distributed to the Council's 550 employees. A 25% increase in response rate was achieved (over their previous survey) with results being delivered three weeks after the 'close date'.

The Survey Centre worked with the Council's Steering Group to consider the findings of the Survey and help develop an Action Plan to address the issues raised.
