Case Study: Horsham District Council
Employee Survey
The Survey Centre advised HDC on the content and format of their Employee Survey. This ensured the data required by the Council was obtained most effectively.
Some ‘ambiguous' questions were re-worded, others replaced with questions more closely aligned to the information being sought. The result was a tight, concise questionnaire that was easy to read and complete.
All surveys were paper-based. The Council arranged the questionnaire issue direct to staff and the collection of completed questionnaires in ballot boxes at convenient locations in Council premises across the district. A prize draw incentive was offered, with each respondent being given a draw ticket when they posted their completed questionnaire into the ballot box. This helped to raise the response rate to 65% - a significant improvement on the Council's previous survey.
The Survey Centre analysed and reported findings well within agreed timescales. The Council is currently considering both the findings and the Survey Centre's recommendations before taking further action to address the issues highlighted.
Horsham District Council has retained The Survey Centre to carry out this survey for at least the next two years.
